In 1922 Mr. Victor Girard has purchased 2,886 acres of land in the area and founded the area of Girard. He has planted 120,000 trees, developed the land and advertised in newspapers to attract residences and business. He has completed the Girard Golf Course in 1925 which is one of the most desirable golf courses of todays Golf advocates an currently operates as the Woodland Hills Country Club with rolling and manicured hills sides in a very tranquil setting in the heart of the city. The completion of this golf course has successfully attracted interest in his new founded Girard community. After the great depression the community risen from all the difficulties of their time and was renamed Woodland Hills.
A second investor has visited the area and found great interest and potential in the community by the name of Harry Warner. He has purchased 1,100 acres for the purpose of creating horse properties. If you see WARNER CENTER today, horses will be the last thing on your mind. Warner Center is the quintessential part of the San Fernando Valley's Business District. This busy and thriving business district was named after Harry Warner.
